At Desmond Maguire Funeral Directors we pride ourselves on our high standard of personal care and attention to detail. All our staff are fully trained in all aspects of funeral service so that families in their time of need can feel at ease and comfortable with all funeral arrangements. Our company policy is that the member of staff who makes the funeral arrangements will be in sole charge of overseeing the funeral ensuring that the all details are adhered to faultlessly.

All our funeral directors are dressed impeccably with top hats and frock coats. We pace away all funeral corteges from the family home, Churches and our funeral homes. Our funeral homes are furnished to a high standard with a tasteful blend of modern and traditional. We have reception areas, private arrangement offices and chapels of rest and service rooms in all our funeral homes. Our funeral homes are ideally located to serve the local community.

We are members of the Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors.( S.A.I.F.)

OUR STORY
When Desmond Maguire started washing funeral cars at 15 years old, it didn’t take him long to notice how important a good funeral could be for a grieving family. Inspired to help those in need, Desmond took a job as a funeral service operative when he finished school. He gradually worked his way through the ranks to become a funeral director and in June 2006, he decided to open his own funeral home, aiming to deliver the very best funeral care.

A funeral is such a personal thing, and there are so many complex emotions to be given due attention, that to be chosen so often is a real honour and a privilege. It’s a constant source of pride and humility for Desmond that so many families entrust their funerals into his company’s care.

Choices of Funeral Services in Bearsden

Simple Funerals

Simple funerals are affordable and personal. These are suited to family funeral services with a limited budget. Each of our professional services including high quality of care while the deceased is in our care remains the same high standard as all of our services. The only simple aspects that change from a traditional funeral is the casket, and the service duration.

Traditional Funerals

Our traditional funeral services include an oak veneered coffin, hearsette, limousine, and the use of the viewing room within our Funeral Home. The service is longer than a simple funeral.

Eco-Funeral

These are sometimes referred to as green funerals or green burials. Desmond Maguire Funeral Directors cater to this type of funeral service too. The difference can be the casket only, or a different burial location. Eco-burials can be a traditional funeral with an eco-friendly casket, no embalming, and our Funeral Directors can make special arrangements for a Woodlands Burial on request.

Each of our funeral services can be tailored to meet unique wishes left by the deceased, or requested by family.

Additional Funeral Vehicle Hire

We maintain a fleet of modern, yet traditional Mercedes Benz Limousine vehicles, each immaculately maintained. All of our vehicles, including the hearsette, are Mercedes Benz models, coach built by specialists in the UK to our unique specifications. Our vehicles are chauffeur driven by our experienced drivers at a respectful pace. We can provide as many additional vehicles as you require for conveying mourners to the service, and onward to the final resting place.

Our Funeral Home

Our Funeral Home is located near Bearsden (approx. 20 minutes by car via the A739). Within our facilities are a Chapel of Rest, a family room, and a service room with seating for up to 120 mourners.

Advice, Support and Assistance Throughout the Funeral Planning Process

We work very closely with the families we help during these emotional times. To ensure we take as much of the stress off of your shoulders, we provide families with a single named contact. The person you speak to first will oversee all aspects of the funeral arrangements, liaising with other staff members to ensure your wishes are met.

As much of the planning is done behind the scenes as possible. Our Funeral Directors handle all of the important administrative tasks and will be here to assist with any advice required about insurance policies, legal paperwork, or other documentation issues or concerns you may have.

Headstones and Memorials

We are partnered with local stonemason’s who can help create bespoke headstones and loving memorials.

Our Funeral Directors have a great deal of experience helping families design unique headstones with meaningful inscriptions that capture the spirit of the deceased. Together, we can help create a lasting memory that lives on for future generations to learn about their past relatives.
