OUR HISTORY

Desmond  Maguire  Limited  was  formed  on  25th  January  2006  and started  trading  in  the  July  of  that  same  year  after  I  secured  funeral home premises  and  funeral vehicles.

I have been in the funeral industry since the age of 15 and worked for a  local funeral director,  washing funeral cars and assisting in different aspects of funeral service.    In 1990 I was asked to join as a full time member of staff with the same funeral company and moved quickly through the ranks,  as I was recognised as being a very honest and respectful person and I always carried out my tasks meticulously to a very high standard.

My company motto is “Giving the best to the end” – when the company was formed I was given many good wishes from many people including numerous clergy.  A priest of the Catholic church who knew me in a professional capacity as a funeral director telephoned me to wish me every success, and said “I have your company motto, it has to be “Giving the best to the end”, as families give the best to the end for their loved ones and you in return do so in your vocation.  The priest was Fr. John Keenan and he went on to become Bishop of Paisley.

Our company mission statement dictates that all family loved ones are received into our company care individually by fully trained and formally dressed staff.  All our deceased are brought into our care  by hearse or hearsette and treated with the upmost dignity at all times.  We treat our deceased as if they were one of our own family and this helps to explain how the company and its reputation have gone from strength to strength.

Desmond Maguire Funeral Directors is solely owned and operated by Des Maguire and his wife Margaret Maguire.
